Theoretical modeling of the interaction between surface plasmons and antiferromagnetic magnon

Internship Description

The excitation of antiferromagnets using charge current is a promising route towards low energy spin-based devices [1,2]. Our objective is to propose a unique way to control excitations of antiferromagnets, so-called antiferromagnetic magnons, using plasmons. Starting with a semi-classical phenomenological model, the student will develop a description of the coupled dynamics plasmons-magnons. Extension towards many-body quantum field techniques will be considered.​​​​​​
